C4R400 - how to change the APN (for switching between Verizon and AT&T) Print

  • 5

The C4R400 Router handles both IPV4 and the newer IPV6 authentication.  However, some devices do not handle IPV6 (like Hopper, Roku, and Genie devices and many more).   To make these devices (and all devices) work, you have to force the router to only work with IPV4 standards and then those devices will authenticate properly.  To update the router's APN settings, follow these directions below.  (There is a version for the Verizon plan and separate one for AT&T Plan, please use the information for the plan you are on.)

APN Update for Verizon Plan

  1. Connect to the router Wireless or through Ethernet connection.
  2. Load the browser of your choice and go to 192.168.100.1 (***NOTE: for the newer version 2 router, the address is 192.168.1.1 and when you login it may pop up a new tab that you need to close)
  3. On the left side of the GUI where it shows connection status click where it says ON to turn connected status off. *If there is a cloud with and x through it that means the connection status is off due to a connection issue.
  4. In the middle of the GUI It says Network Settings and WIFI Settings, select Network Settings.
  5. The third option down on the left-hand side in the Network Settings menu is APN, select APN.
  6. NOTE: if the "apn" option does not appear, then you can use the direct link:

    http://192.168.100.1/index.html#apn_setting

  7. Where it says auto or manual for the APN select Manual.
  8. A blue button with white letters saying ADD NEW will appear, select ADD NEW.
  9. For the PDP Type leave as IPV4.

  11. For the APN in all lowercase letters type vzwinternet
  12. Scroll to the bottom of the screen and Click APPLY, Success should pop up on the screen.
  13. Next click SET AS DEFAULT, this should pop up Success as well.
